Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania was established on September 20, 1787 as a large region of Central Pennsylvania. It was previously part of Bedford County and the earlier Cumberland Region.

Thomas Ewing was born about 1730.

In 1777, Alexander was an ensign in Little's company.

In the fall of 1782 Catherine was captured and taken to Montreal. She was restored to her family after several months.

In 1788 John was an ensign in Little's company.

At the time of the 1790 census the household consisted of 3 men over 16, 2 females, and 2 boys under 16.

Thomas died in 1800. His will mentioned hisbeloved wife Mary and children, Alexander, John, James, William, Thomas, Catherine, Mathew, and David.

David Ewing was a private in one of two Pennsylvania companies drafted for the War of 1812. (Nov. 1813) William Morris, Capt. The Juniata Volunteers.

1790 census shows Samuel Ewing with one man over 16, two boys, and four females.

1795 Barree Township tax list 50 acres, 2 horses and 2 cows.

Samuel, Sr. died in October, 1808, intestate. The estate was divided into thirds. Sarah Ewing (the daughter) and Mary and William Ramsey received one third. Sarah, Mary and William Ramsey sold their portion to Robert McCormick on April 6, 1812.
